How can therapy help me?
Therapy is a space meant for you to feel safe. It is a time where you can allow yourself to be vulnerable and discuss stressors or problems you may be experiencing. It can help you think about situations in a different perspective. Additionally, therapy can be an opportunity for you to work through negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be impacting you or holding you back from becoming the best version of yourself.
What will we discuss in therapy?
The topics we discuss in therapy can be about current or past issues. We can discuss and explore coping skills and ways to manage stressors in your life. It is based off of what you want and what your goals are during our time together.
Will you give me advice?
Therapy is about creating a trusting relationship with a professional who can provide guidance, support, and potentially help you see "blind spots" you may not be able to identify. This is also done by using evidenced based practices and interventions.
Will you prescribe medication?
Prescribing medication is outside of my professional scope. I encourage you to speak with your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist for medication management. I can provide you resources should this be something you need or could benefit from.
How long does therapy take?
Therapy is very personalized. It is a collaboration between you and your therapist. Part of what we do early on in our therapeutic relationship is to identify your goals and create a treatment plan. This is a guide we will use to keep us on track with the goals you are trying to achieve. Generally speaking, ongoing therapy can be 6 months to a year long.
Will my insurance cover our sessions? How does that work?
I accept several insurances (please refer to the Investment section). Headway is what I use to for billing and insurance verification. Once we determine you and I are a fit, I will ask you to setup an account with Headway. You will provide your insurance information and form of payment through their secured website. Headway will process your information and update you on coverage, payments, and co-pays. I also accept private pay (out-of-pocket). Private pay clients will also use Headway for billing.
Do you have evening or weekend availability?
I primarily see clients in the evenings. I do not have weekend availability at this time.
How do I schedule my appointments?
You may go to the Contact page and click on 15 min Consultation to schedule a time we can discuss your situation and answer any questions you may have. If you prefer to schedule an Initial Session without a 15 minute consultation, you may do so by clicking on Book Appointment. This will direct you to my Headway profile with my availability. Find a time and day that works best for you and create a Headway account, if you have not done so.
Can I decide to see a different therapist?
There may be certain instances where you may need specialized interventions that I may not be able to provide. I highly recommend for you to see a therapist who can provide that service for you in addition to our sessions. Should you be dissatisfied with the services I provide, please feel free to communicate this with me. I will be more than happy to provide you with additional resources or recommendations.
